Although the site uses the familiar term “cookies”, its own preference and age-confirmation functions are currently implemented with localStorage. No optional analytics or advertising tags are installed. External services such as Google Fonts and an optional Google Maps embed may behave differently. The exact browser storage identifiers used by the site are documented below.
02What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small pieces of data that a website or third-party service can ask a browser to save. Depending on their attributes, cookies may be returned to a server during later requests, used to maintain a session or read by scripts in the browser. Not every browser storage technology is a cookie. LocalStorage can remember preferences without automatically attaching values to network requests, while some embedded services may set their own cookies.
03How Cookies Work
A cookie usually has a name and value, along with attributes relating to domain, path, lifetime and security. Browser settings can allow, restrict or delete cookies. Some cookies expire when a session ends; others can remain until a specified date or until the user removes them. This site does not currently install its own optional tracking cookies. Its two operational settings are stored through localStorage rather than through document.cookie.
04Why We Use Cookies
Essential browser storage reduces repetitive age prompts and respects the visitor’s chosen preference settings. These functions help create an accessible experience across the nine pages of the website. They are not designed to build behavioural advertising profiles. We may add optional services in the future only after providing appropriate notices and activating them in accordance with the preferences available in the consent interface.
05Strictly Necessary Cookies
The website’s necessary storage consists of a browser value indicating adult age confirmation and a record of cookie preferences. This storage supports the age gate and privacy controls. Because those controls would not behave consistently across pages without remembering their state, necessary storage cannot be switched off using the website’s preference modal. You can still remove it through the browser, in which case you will need to make the choices again.
06Functional Storage
Functional technologies can remember settings that make a website easier to use. At present, the age confirmation and cookie preference record are the only persistent values deliberately written by the site’s scripts. The contact form does not save completed messages in localStorage. The mobile menu, FAQ accordion and scroll-reveal effects use temporary page state and do not require persistent identifiers.
07Analytics Cookies
Analytics tools can help website operators understand visitor traffic, popular pages and navigation patterns. Southernluxstays does not currently load Google Analytics or another analytics tracking platform. The analytics toggle is therefore disabled by default and records a visitor’s preference for any compatible integration that may be added later. Selecting “Accept All” does not, on its own, cause analytics tracking to begin when no service has been configured.
08Marketing Cookies
Marketing cookies can be used to measure advertising, recognise users across sites or support promotional targeting. No marketing or retargeting service is currently installed in this website. The marketing option is disabled by default, and allowing it only records a preference for a possible future integration. A service must not be introduced without appropriate disclosure and technical checks so that it remains blocked until the visitor provides a valid choice.
09First-Party Cookies
First-party cookies are ordinarily associated with the website domain in the address bar. The southernluxstays front-end code currently sets no first-party cookies using the cookie API. Its age and consent values are saved as localStorage data under the website origin. The hosting environment may independently use operational cookies if configured; any such deployment-specific behaviour should be identified and reflected in this policy by the operator.
10Third-Party Cookies
Third parties sometimes set cookies when an external service is embedded or contacted. The website requests Google Fonts for typefaces. Google Maps is not loaded until a visitor uses the relevant “Load Map” button on a hotel page, after which Google may employ its own storage or cookies. The site does not control the exact identifiers or durations of storage created by these external services, so visitors should consult their notices.
11Browser Local Storage
LocalStorage saves key-value data within a particular website origin and generally persists across browser restarts. Scripts on that origin can read stored values, but the data is not automatically included with every HTTP request. The site uses two named localStorage records. They are not used to identify visitors across unrelated websites and are not linked to a customer account. Visitors can remove them in their browser’s privacy or site-data settings.

12Age Verification Storage
The identifier southernluxstays_age_18_v1 is set to the text value “yes” when a visitor selects “I Am 18 or Older”. This prevents the age confirmation overlay from appearing on each subsequent page visit in that browser. It remains stored until removed manually because the code does not set a fixed expiry. This mechanism is an age self-attestation prompt, not a substitute for identity checks by an authorised casino venue.
13Cookie Preferences Storage
The identifier southernluxstays_cookie_choices_v1 contains a JSON object with necessary, analytics and marketing category values and a timestamp of the saved decision. Necessary is always true; analytics and marketing reflect separate visitor choices. This record is used to determine whether the consent banner needs to appear and to populate the settings modal. It remains available until updated or removed through browser settings.
14Managing Consent
When no existing preferences are found, the website presents a consent banner after adult age confirmation. Visitors can accept all, reject optional categories or open a settings panel. In that panel, analytics and marketing are initially unchecked. The selected settings are stored when the visitor chooses “Save Preferences”. The current implementation does not activate optional external tracking because no corresponding integrations are installed.
15Changing Cookie Settings
You can reopen the consent modal using “Cookie Settings” in the footer or “Manage Cookie Preferences” on this page. The controls show the values most recently saved in the browser and let you update them at any time. Changing a preference updates the localStorage record. A future analytics or marketing integration should listen to that change and stop or avoid loading any technology for which consent has been withdrawn.
16Browser Cookie Controls
Most browsers allow users to block cookies, clear site data or browse in a more private mode. The location of those settings differs between Chrome, Safari, Firefox and other browsers, and may change between versions. Blocking all browser storage can affect the persistence of age confirmation and consent choices, which means the website may ask again when you return. You may also be able to restrict third-party cookies independently of first-party storage.
17Deleting Cookies
To reset this website’s own stored preferences, open your browser’s site information or privacy settings, locate data associated with southernluxstays.com and remove its stored values. The age gate and consent banner will return when the website is reloaded. You may also clear cookies associated with Google or other external providers through the same browser tools. Deleting this site’s localStorage does not necessarily delete information held by a separate email provider after a contact submission.
18Storage Retention Periods
Neither of the two localStorage keys has an automatic expiry in the current script; both persist until changed or cleared by the visitor or browser. In the consent record, updatedAt is the time the latest choice was stored and is not an expiry date. Session state for menus and accordions is not saved permanently. External services and production hosting infrastructure may have their own retention periods, which should be confirmed from the relevant provider.
19Embedded Google Maps
Map areas on hotel pages initially show an explanatory panel rather than contacting Google. When you choose to load a map, the page assigns the city-map URL to the iframe and the Google service begins to load. Google can then process connection details and apply its own cookie or storage practices. You can decline to load the map and still read the rest of the destination profile and use its contact link.
20External Services
Google Fonts serves the Instrument Serif, Archivo and DM Mono typefaces requested by this website. The page can display fallback fonts if that service is unavailable. If the production contact endpoint is activated, an email-delivery provider will process enquiry data according to its own service terms; this is different from analytics or advertising cookies. The operator should review all externally hosted resources before launch and update this policy when their behaviour changes.
21Updates to This Policy
This policy may be updated when website features, service providers or applicable requirements change. Any material changes to optional tracking will be reflected in the consent settings and explained in this policy. Visitors can return to this page and update their preferences at any time.
